We aim to reclaim Black breastfeeding by celebrating and lifting up Boston’s Black breastfeeding families and their village through supportive and affirming community engagement events and spaces. We must challenge the dominant narrative by centralizing Black families with collective support to achieve equity in breastfeeding outcomes.

Black Breastfeeding Week Proclamation

It is with great pride that we announce that Mayor Kim Janey signed a proclamation for Black Breastfeeding Week for the city of Boston. This landmark Proclamation was released on Wednesday morning, August 25th, 2021. Congratulations to the Boston Breastfeeding Coalition's Black Breastfeeding Week Committee for your dedication!

UPLIFT The CAN  2021 Black Breastfeeding Week Panel

Join us for the 2021 Black Breastfeeding Week CAN community discussion on the historical context of black breastfeeding week and on what reclaiming black breastfeeding looks like.  On August 24th at 2pm, the Black Breastfeeding Week committee will co-facilitate the virtual Uplift CAN Tuesday panel highlighting the 2021 Black Breastfeeding Week theme and sharing stories of breastfeeding and the greater community at large. Click here to register for the Tuesday event!

Mattapan Square Farmer's Market Baby Cafe

Join us on Saturday August 28th from 10a-1pm.  The BMC Codman Square Baby Café and the Vital Village Network Boston Breastfeeding Coalition is improving access to breastfeeding support for every parent in the Boston area. The Breastfeeding Coalition is building connections between individuals and organizations that promote breastfeeding advocacy. We have partnered with the Mattapan Square Farmers Market to support families in their first food journey!   The market is located on the corner of Cummins Highway and Fairway.

Family Yoga at Virtual Baby Cafe

Join us at the Codman Square Health Center Baby Cafe for some relaxing virtual family yoga! This event will be held on Monday, August 30th from 5p-7p with Tiffany Mangum of Trupeace Wellness Collective, who will be guiding us through the yoga session. Virtual March and Drumming Circle

Join us in celebration of 2021 Black Breastfeeding Week on August 31st from 10am - 12pm! Jah Jah Drummers have become well known for their dedication to keeping alive the Art of African drummology in the Boston area. They will demonstrate and teach the art of drumming. To end a week of uplifting events, join us for a virtual march and drumming circle to celebrate 2021 Black Breastfeeding Week. Virtual Family Paint Night

​Join us on Tuesday August 24th and 31st from 6p-8pm for a virtual family paint night. As we gather we will be surrounded by our community and family members and music.  We will highlight the work and artistry of children, youth, and families.
